If you’re in search of a little more beauty and creativity in life, visit Torpedo Factory Art Center. Founded in the 1970s in an old weapons factory, this transformed local artistic oasis boasts the most working artists’ open studios in one place. It’s a pretty unique claim to fame! Wandering the halls you can stumble across any number of more than 80 working studios participating in everything from printmaking to pottery, oil painting to photography, and just about everything in between. A number of the spaces are occupied by official non-profits and galleries that display the art of local artists and students of all levels.
They host open studio events and have open exhibits daily so check out the events calendar to see what you may want to check out. Beyond the galleries and studios, you can also find the Alexandria Archeology Museum on the third floor of the building with a variety of exhibits for exploring! So much to see, you’re going to need more than one visit.
