Have you been to the Old Town Farmers’ Market yet this season? This King Street staple is considered the oldest farmers’ market in the nation. Legend has it that even George Washington himself sold his produce here. This isn’t some nostalgia trip, though. Each and every year, this tradition is special in its own right.
Today, this market is home to over 70 vendors. They offer a wide variety of interesting products, ranging from fruits and vegetables, to plants, jewelry, and more. Looking to put together a special meal? Browse the selection of local meats, poultry, and fresh pasta. Entertaining is easier with the market’s assortment of artisanal cheeses, breads, and pastries. Freshen up your tablescape with a wonderful array of cut flowers. Art and live music round out the experience in an enriching way.
The market is even easy to get to, with free parking in the Market Square Garage (located beneath the market) while the market is open. The Old Town Farmers’ Market is open from 5:30 am until noon every Saturday all year long.
