Athenaeum is the impressive building that is home to the Northern Virginia Fine Arts Association, and this grand structure is the perfect home to the unique art programs and exhibits held within. They hold special events monthly, from dance classes and writing workshops, to artist talks and more. They also have a few rotating exhibits that can be viewed during their gallery hours, Thursday through Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
The latest exhibition opened September 13. It is titled The Cabinet of Curiosities, and it is part of the 2018 Athenaeum Invitation series. Past Athenaeum artists have been invited to take part, as well as new artists that answered an open call for submissions to explore the visual theme. Learn more about the exhibit on their website, and be sure to note the upcoming workshops as well. A class or gallery walk through at Athenaeum is an invaluable way to support the NVFAA, and to appreciate the arts in a truly beautiful historic building.
