It’s going to be BEAUTIFUL this weekend and we can’t think of anything better than spending it outdoors at all of the amazing taking place between Alexandria and DC.
You can always go to the outdoor films (locations and schedule HERE) or cruise The Potomac on The Baseball Boat to see the Nats vs Brewers this weekend (details HERE), but this weekend we have put together a full lineup of ANNUAL events…LIVE music to eating the best burgers in the area along with a Canine Cruise on The Potomac – we have found something for everyone…including our four-legged friends!
WHEN: Saturday, July 19 – 1-6 p.m.
WHAT: At most beer festivals, you just stand around and drink beer. Not at the annual Artists and Artisans festival hosted by 3 Stars Brewing Company, an event dedicated to showcasing local musicians, graffiti artists, clothing designers, food trucks and distillers. Among the highlights of the July 19 festival: A live set by buzzworthy rock band Spirit Animal, graffiti art, food truck snacks and a tasting with New Columbia Distillers. There will also be plenty of 3 Stars beer, of course.
WHERE: 3 Stars Brewing Company – 6400 Chillum Place, NW, Washington, DC
WHEN: Saturday, July 19 – Noon – 6 pm
WHAT: Burgers. Beer. Charity. That’s the elevator pitch for the first D.C. BRGR BASH, which pairs signature offerings from 10 local burgersmiths with $5 pours of DC Brau, Atlas Brew Works and New Belgium beers. You’ll be able to eat tasty patties from the likes of Burger Tap & Shake, Boundary Stone, 1905, Granville Moore’s and others. Fifty cents from every burger sold will benefit a charity of each participating restaurant’s choosing. Admission ranges from $30 to $50 for five to 10 burger samples.
WHERE: The parking lot at 945 Florida Avenue, NW
WHEN: Saturday, July 19 – 11:00 am
WHAT: With four-legged friends in tow, board a Potomac Riverboat cruise and tour the Alexandria Seaport on this popular 60-minute waterfront excursion. Dogs must be on 6 ft. flat leash at all times. Admission: Adults $15; children $9 (dogs ride free).
WHERE: Potomac Riverboat Company – 1 Cameron Street, Alexandria, VA
WHEN: Saturday, July 19 – 1 to 4 pm
WHAT: Forget fresh beets and local tomatoes: On Saturday, Union Market will be celebrating ice cream, the only seasonal product that really matters. For the fourth annual DC SCOOP festival, 15 frozen-treat vendors will face off to see who makes the best ice cream in the District. Though the winner will be selected by a panel of expert judges, there also is a people’s choice category, meaning it’s pretty much your democratic duty to try all 15 options. Go HERE for a list of participating vendors.
WHERE: Union Market – 1309 5th Street, NE, Washington, DC
WHEN: Saturday, July 19 and Sunday, July 20 – 2 – 6pm
WHAT: Enjoy your Saturday and Sunday afternoons with live music at Paradise Springs Winery, the closest winery to Washington DC and the first in Fairfax County. After a hard week at work, relax with a picnic, good friends, and a great bottle of wine. Featuring live music every Saturday from 2-6pm. Additionally, music is featured on most Sunday afternoons. Artists include acoustic acts, pianists, jazz bands, banjos, or other various forms. Check the website for the schedule of performing artists.
